The video above touched base with students who went to technology integrated high schools. These schools apply real life work experience into the classroom. In engineering prospect schools, the students are using their hands and working on equations of building structures. For medical prospect students the schools provide a variety of lab work experience. The students describe how the schools helped them really explore their desired content area. The schools prepare the students for college and even for graduate life. The students have no choice in these schools but to be involved and therefore succeed. All of the students feel motivated by the technology integrated schools. I love that the students are involved and doing well because of a hands on learning environment, as this is the type of learning environment I work best in as well.
I believe technology integration is very important each teacher’s classroom. When students graduate high school, there are different technical knowledge required equipment pieces that a student must know how to use, whether the student goes to college or not. If the student does not go to college, being familiar with computers in important so that students may work with simple P.O.S. systems or something similar. In a college setting being familiar with a lot more than just computers is imperative, so that students may run Mathematica or their graphing calculators in order to do well in class. I will use different programs including Mathematica in my secondary mathematics classroom.
